About Brittany

Brittany Baker serves as CX Account Manager at Container Port Group in Louisville, Kentucky. She specializes in intermodal shipping, coordinating imports and exports through door moves with steamship lines and ensuring timely deliveries and pickups by truckers at terminals and rails across the United States. Baker began her career in fleet maintenance scheduling before advancing through roles at Container Port Group, starting with the Louisville terminal and progressing to customer service and account management. She holds a GED and draws motivation from her desire to provide stability for her children while maintaining personal accountability and integrity. Baker values strong connections with colleagues and clients, and she advises young women entering male-dominated fields to recognize their natural strengths in prioritization rather than feeling the need to overcompensate.

Ten minutes with Brittany

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids are the reason I keep going to make sure they have a good and happy life. Also myself, as a woman who always told myself I would never be dependent on anyone besides myself, making sure I have stability and accountability in myself.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

There's always tomorrow after one bad day. It won't just be the same bad day tomorrow. It's always a new day, pretty much, especially in this industry, because it gets stressful.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I don't think that you have to work harder or better because you're a woman in a man's field. The position I'm in is definitely more men motivated. You shouldn't have to try and do much more bigger to try and show that you're just as good, because most of the time you're going to be better, because you're a woman. You know how to prioritize and get things done and moving, because that's just in your nature.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The cost of everything. Our company runs off of independent contractors, so most of our truck drivers are their own company. They don't have to take any work if they don't want to, and the majority of not wanting to take certain work is because of the rates and because of diesel prices. Just trying to find that sweet spot where we can make money, and our independent contractors can make money, along with the people we're working for.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Accountability, determination, integrity, responsibility, making sure everybody is held to the same standards, and connection, wanting to make sure that I have a strong connection with who I'm working with or for.
