Her Story

About Brittany

Brittany Bowles serves as a process assistant in customer fulfillment at Amazon in Shreveport, Louisiana. In this role, which is similar to an assistant manager, she oversees the packing department floor, conducts daily start-up meetings to share safety information and goals, and works closely with associates to recognize high performers while coaching and mentoring those who need support. She began her Amazon career as a packer and has contributed to launching two buildings, twice transforming the lowest-performing shifts into top performers with strong quality and efficiency results. Prior to Amazon, Bowles worked in medical billing for a home healthcare office and spent about eight years in horticulture focusing on medicinal plants and produce. She is four classes away from completing a bachelor's degree in business management at Colorado State University Global and has earned multiple certifications through LinkedIn and job training programs. Bowles is involved with the Women of Amazon affinity group, where she helps promote women's professional goals. She attributes her drive to being a single mother working full-time while pursuing her degree, and she values integrity and follow-through in both her professional and personal life. Her approach to leadership emphasizes assuming positive intent, maintaining high standards, and focusing on incremental daily improvement.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brittany

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids are my driving force that pushed me to be as successful as I possibly can. Being a single mother working full-time and almost completing my degree has motivated me greatly.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always assume the positive. Just because upper management makes certain decisions you may not understand, hang in there and follow through because things usually work out in the end. Always excel for the highest standard.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just improving 1% every day will make the difference, and having the correct perspective on that finish line that's several years down the road, not necessarily the obstacles that are right in front of you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The main challenge is how to communicate appropriately with people to get everyone aligned and focused on the same goal when decisions from upper management are not always understood or agreed with. Once aligned, production and morale improve greatly.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Having integrity, really standing behind the things that you say, backing them up, and having follow-through.
