Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brittany

01What do you attribute your success to?

Never giving up. I think it is so incredibly important to stick to something, no matter how hard it gets. Life can give you many obstacles, but it is your choice to in how you deal with them and overcome them. You can choose to take them head on or take them lying down. If you take them head on, you will certainly get further than you ever would have expected in life and see so many more results on the chances you will take. If you take them lying down, you may never know what chances you missed.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stay passionate, be persistent, and you will persevere. Those three things have gotten me to where I am today. You just can't settle, you have to keep moving forward, no matter what. Always have that passion and fire, work hard, and be persistent to get what you want.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay confident and study hard for that CPA license because it truly sets you apart. Keep your head up, not down, and keep pushing forward for the position that you want, and you will eventually get it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's a male-dominated profession. When interviewing or applying for higher-titled positions, there are a lot of male applicants and sometimes younger females, despite their experience and credentials, might be overlooked. I never gave up and the Lord lead me to where I am at today because someone believed in me and gave me a chance.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Ethical values and integrity are most important, especially in the accounting world and holidng a CPA license. That's one of the foundations the license is built on. Having the ability to do things right, ethically and morally, and be a person of integrity is very important in my professional and personal life.
