Brittany Carpenter

I have been in situational awareness and life safety for over 16 years. I help organizations and businesses keep their facilities safe, their staff safe, and their visitors safe, whether through security cameras, access control, or developing safety plans in case of emergencies. I help any and every organization be prepared for the worst, making sure they're prepared and ready in case something happens. I currently work for a company called Epitome Networks, but I'm also working towards going more into consulting. I have certifications to get into government buildings. I started at the front desk as an admin front desk girl, and somebody saw something in me and gave me that opportunity to prove myself. I had no idea what I was doing or what industry I just got myself into, but I fell in love with it. I get to do something that's extremely meaningful - using technology and putting everybody's brains together to come up with a plan to ultimately save lives in the end. I've climbed the corporate ladder with no regrets. I've kind of reached a point now where people are coming to me. I literally just left a meeting yesterday, and the gentleman said, 'I don't know what I don't know, and I'm relying on you.' This is a predominantly male industry - IT, technology - and I'm one of the very few women in this field.
