Her Story
About Brittany
Brittany Dolan has spent approximately 20 years in the marine science world, with her expertise centered on stranding, population study and pathology. She currently manages a necropsy lab where she conducts post-mortem exams on animals that die in rehabilitation as well as special cases such as stranded gray whales and sea otters. Her background also includes extensive work in the rehabilitation of marine mammals and sea turtles. Dolan is a member of the Society of Marine Mammalogy, serving on its Indigenous Representation Subcommittee and co-leading the Neurodiverse and Disability subcommittee. She is currently leading efforts to create resources that demystify the repatriation of marine mammal parts to Indigenous communities in the United States by creating connections between parts holders and community members, as well as resources to guide indigenous communities through the request and permitting process. She has lived or worked on all 7 continents and is committed to better understanding human impact on the marine environment.
