About Brittany

Brittany Hansen is a real estate broker with about six years of experience as a real estate agent, following four to five years in property management in the Seattle area. She currently serves as a buyer's agent and listing agent on the First Impressions Group team at Keller Williams, where she focuses on bringing in business through networking and social media content that highlights local lifestyles. Previously, she worked as a team lead assistant at a brokerage of 200 associates, handling onboarding, recruiting, and education. She holds an associate's degree and has received the Rising Star Award while her team achieved number two sales volume in the brokerage. Her background as a military brat from an Air Force family, where she attended 12 different schools before high school, instilled a drive for stability and quick relationship building. She values honesty, communication, and asking for help, and she coaches middle school volleyball at the YMCA Mill Creek while supporting KW Cares donations. She attributes her success to being driven with high expectations, strong family support especially from her husband, and learning to trust herself despite having ADHD. Brittany advises being authentic, saying yes to opportunities, and lifting up others as a leader.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brittany

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being really driven with high expectations for myself, the support of my family especially my husband who is more than a 50-50 percent partner, and learning to trust myself despite having ADHD. My family has given me grace when schedules change due to work, and my husband supported me by taking on more at home so I could dedicate myself fully to real estate.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice is that being a good leader means lifting up the people around you rather than being narcissistic. Good leaders take the hit when things go bad but credit the team for successes. It's the people around you who help stack the bricks to make the house strong.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to be yourself and come authentically who you are because that will attract the right people. Be open to opportunities and say yes instead of no, like in improv, because saying yes opens more doors and you never know who you might meet that can help your business grow.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is the affordability of housing, especially for first-time homebuyers and single mothers in Washington where median prices are among the highest in the country. Another challenge is that many agents don't commit long enough to reap the rewards because they misunderstand the work involved. The biggest opportunity is that there is no ceiling on what you can make and you have access to education for wealth building like flipping homes to create generational wealth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and communication are really big values because we've had to communicate a lot as a family to stay tight through trauma. Asking for help is also important. It took me a long time to learn it's okay to ask for help when you're drowning instead of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, and admitting you can't handle the load puts your ego aside.
