Her Story

About Brittany

Brittany Houghton has built her career in program management, project management, and operations management, which she describes as her core wheelhouse. Starting in investment management, she transitioned into operations through marketing and has spent the better part of ten years in tech consulting, working across eight or nine industries such as energy, public sector, government, and currently pharmacy. She has touched nearly every aspect of operations, including change management, implementation, PMO, learning and development, and leadership development. Houghton holds an associate's degree in business management with a focus in digital media marketing, a bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management, and a master's of science in management and leadership focused on corporate psychology. She has submitted her application for a doctoral program in business management with the goal of teaching senior leaders how to reconnect with everyday employees. Outside of her professional work, she has served as a parent sponsor for her children's middle school trips and assisted a school vice principal with operational structure issues. Houghton credits her success to her never-ending desire to learn and her role as the person who knows everyone and everything needed to get things done. Her advice to young women entering the field is to use their voice without being timid or afraid of criticism.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brittany

01What do you attribute your success to?

My never-ending desire to learn and understand more. It sounds cliche but I look at my associate's degree - I got it to check a box but then kept going because I wanted to expand my knowledge. Now I'm finishing my master's and applying for my doctoral. The core of operations is being the person that knows everything and everybody so you know who to pull and where to grab to get things done.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Use your voice. Do not be timid, shy, or afraid of criticism or other opinions. The people giving feedback are not feeding you, not financing you, they get no opinion. Use your voice to correct them or correct yourself. Do not allow somebody to make you feel bad.
