Ten minutes with Brittany
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, determination, and the support of those around me. Throughout my 15+ years as a registered nurse and 10+ years as a nurse educator, I continued pursuing my goal of becoming a nurse practitioner despite significant personal and professional challenges. Completing my degree, passing my boards, and reaching my goal during such a difficult time showed me the power of resilience and having people who encouraged, prayed for, and believed in me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering nursing is to never stop learning and growing. Stay humble, be open to constructive criticism, learn from your mistakes, and surround yourself with supportive people. Most importantly, share both your struggles and successes because your journey may inspire someone else.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in nursing is persevering through difficult seasons while continuing to grow personally and professionally. My journey to becoming a nurse practitioner taught me the importance of faith, family support, humility, and lifelong learning. Despite moments of loss, uncertainty, and hardship, I experienced tremendous growth and accomplishment. I believe these challenges also create opportunities to inspire others and remind them that their circumstances do not define them.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are faith, family, perseverance, humility, and a commitment to education. I believe circumstances may challenge me, but they do not have to define me. My faith and family have sustained me through difficult seasons, while my education has given me the foundation to continue growing, serving others, and becoming the professional I strive to be.
