Her Story
About Brittany
Brittany Keith serves as Senior Director of Strategy and Planning at Uber Freight, a role she began approximately one month prior to the interview after transitioning into logistics. She brings 14 years of experience across automotive, heavy duty trucking, and logistics, including building the Tesla Semi service program from the ground up at Tesla, where she grew a team from one to roughly 15 people and developed comprehensive training initiatives. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Keith earned her MBA from Duke University while working full time at Volvo Trucks and obtained a certificate in instructional design from LSU to support her training team development. She attributes her success to her mother, a hardworking businesswoman who raised her as a single parent and instilled a strong work ethic along with the value of seizing opportunities. Keith also advises professionals to name and dismiss their imposter syndrome, and she actively mentors other women in male-dominated industries, drawing from her own experience with a vice president mentor at Volvo Trucks.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Brittany
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mom. She is a hardworking businesswoman who raised me as a single mom. I saw her get her college degree at nighttime after working a full day. She taught me work ethic and to seize every opportunity with the phrase Carpe Diem. She always said you can do anything you put your mind to, which helped me persevere through challenges.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is not to listen to your imposter syndrome. Name it something like Chad and tell it to shut up whenever it doubts you. This helps redirect fear and builds confidence, especially in new senior leadership roles.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find other women in your industry to be mentors. Seek them out actively because mentors won't come to you. I found a wonderful mentor who was a vice president at Volvo Trucks and we still stay in touch. Now I am stepping into that mentor role myself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now the biggest challenge is ramping up quickly in a new senior leadership role in logistics by learning as much as possible, asking questions, talking to many people, and staying open-minded to new things. As we get older we can lose that open-mindedness to learning.
