About Brittany
Brittany Merryfield has been an author since 2019. She felt called to share her testimony and hope with others through writing, which serves as an outlet in her healing journey and helps her process thoughts while providing purpose. Her published works include Chasing Fireflies, is about overcoming mental health struggles with faith, the memoir Healing the Light Within Me My Inner Child, the mental health journal Let It Go, children's book You're Perfect To Me, emphasizing that everyone matters regardless of age or appearance, Dancing with Angels, and Chapters which combines mental health psychology with faith. She is currently working on The Door to My Daddy's Heart. Brittany values being relatable, understanding, inspiring, real, creative in constructing stories, and providing hope. She advises networking and making unexpected connections, such as placing books in local stores, going out of one's comfort zone, asking questions, staying curious, keeping an open mind, researching places like libraries, connecting with mental health and faith organizations, focusing on the audience, and not giving up despite discouragement. Challenges include lacking financial means but taking the risk anyway. She participates in her local church and mental health peer support programs.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Networking and making connections unexpectedly, like putting books in local stores, going out of comfort zone to reach audience.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Ask questions, be curious, keep an open mind, research places like libraries, connect with organizations around mental health and faith, focus on audience, reach out and do not give up even if discouraged.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Financial means to publish and taking the risk anyway has been a challenge.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being relatable, understanding, inspiring, being real, creativity in constructing stories, and providing hope.
