About Brittany
Brittany Perez, Assoc. AIA, NCARB, NOMA, brings 15 years of experience in architecture, BIM management and design technology within the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. She serves as Design Technology Lead and Associate at Gensler, where she leads regional design technology initiatives across four Northeast offices. In this role, she manages workflows, collaborates with directors and office managers to achieve strategic goals, and serves as a global lead on select accounts, ensuring teams maintain consistent standards and deliverables. Her expertise extends beyond traditional architectural practice, encompassing the complex intersection of computer-aided design, BIM and emerging technologies. Throughout her career, Perez has developed a strong ability to bridge design, technology and technical requirements across a broad range of projects and practice areas. At Gensler, her work supports approximately 15 practice areas, where she helps multidisciplinary teams streamline processes, improve coordination and enhance project delivery through innovative technology and experiential design elements. Her earlier experience includes serving as a Job Captain at Gensler and Senior Project Manager at A.Form Architecture, where she focused on technical production, New York City building code compliance and Temporary Place of Assembly submissions. She also gained engineering design technology experience at McLaren Engineering Group, establishing CAD standards and developing 3D visualizations to support complex engineering projects. Perez is an active member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She recently earned the ISO 19650 Information Management Practitioner certification through BSI, further strengthening her expertise in BIM information management and industry standards. She earned a Bachelor of Technology in Architectural and Building Sciences/Technology from New York City College of Technology and continues to pursue full architectural licensure. Her commitment to professional development also extends to mentorship through the ACE Mentor Program, where she has supported students interested in architecture and related fields. Guided by a commitment to design excellence and high standards, Perez approaches her work with precision, curiosity and adaptability, recognizing the importance of remaining flexible as technology, projects and the industry continue to evolve.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that it’s okay not to know everything. What matters is remaining curious and inquisitive enough to learn, ask questions and continually grow. When someone else has expertise in an area, I believe it is equally important to respect their knowledge and experience. A willingness to learn, listen and recognize the value others bring has helped me become a stronger professional and a better team member.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The industry is changing rapidly, and entering this field as a woman may come with its challenges. My advice is to find your voice, trust your perspective and remain resilient. Be willing to learn, speak up and stay committed to your goals. With confidence, perseverance and a willingness to grow, there are many opportunities to build a meaningful and successful career in the field.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in the field right now include managing rapid change, particularly with the growth of AI, while maintaining strong data governance, contract compliance and effective risk management. At the same time, these changes are creating significant opportunities through technology development that can improve workflows, enhance efficiency and strengthen project delivery. There is also an opportunity to deliver greater value through thoughtful, experiential project outcomes across a diverse range of practice areas, ultimately creating meaningful experiences for clients and end users.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are design excellence, continuous improvement and a commitment to producing the highest-quality work possible. I strive for precision and excellence in everything I do while recognizing that life and work do not always unfold as planned. Being flexible and adaptable allows me to embrace change, learn from new experiences and continue developing both personally and professionally.
