What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family, my education, and my colleagues. These three pillars have been essential in helping me get to where I am today in my career.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is don't wait for permission to be innovative. Throughout my career, I've learned that it's important to take the lead, bring up new ideas, and not hold back waiting for someone to give you the green light. Being proactive and innovative has been crucial to my growth and success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the IT field is don't shrink yourself to fit in a room. The IT space is very male-dominated, especially coming from a small state like I'm in. Stay authentic to yourself and don't make yourself smaller or shrink yourself to fit in. Keep that authenticity, be yourself, stay true to yourself, and stay innovative. You don't need to change who you are to succeed in this industry.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are a lot of challenges in my field right now, specifically the constant shift in technology. It's ever-changing, and we have a huge AI shift currently happening. The biggest challenge is staying up to date with those changes and trends, and keeping yourself relevant and current. But that's not only a challenge - it's also an opportunity. The rapid pace of technological change means there are always new ways to innovate and add value for clients.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Values are pretty huge to me, both at work and at home. My biggest one for myself and for my kids is growth - professional and personal growth. I also deeply value being authentic and being your authentic, true self in your home life and your work life. And finally, protecting your overall wellness and having a good work-life balance is essential to me. These values guide how I show up every day.
