Her Story

About Brittney

Brittney Reeves serves as a Security Specialist at Microsoft, a role she has held since joining the company in 2017. In this position she sells Microsoft's complete portfolio of cybersecurity solutions to mid-market corporations across the Midwest, conducting full-cycle sales cycles and leading conversations with C-suite executives such as directors of security, CEOs, CISOs, CIOs, and CTOs. She manages a portfolio of 104 customers with an annual quota between $25 million and $30 million. Reeves began her career with 10 to 11 years in corporate roles at Unilever, building a strong foundation in data-driven business analysis before transitioning to technology. At Microsoft she progressed through two promotions in her first three years, moving from business applications specialist to productivity and security sales and ultimately to her current security-focused role. She holds an MBA and regularly completes industry-level cybersecurity certifications, and she is currently studying for her CISSP credential. Among her notable achievements, Reeves attained 100 percent of her $30 million quota in the most recent year and closed a significant deal involving 14,000 seats. Outside her professional responsibilities she remains active in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Women in Tech, and she volunteers through the Junior League and non-profit initiatives associated with her sorority.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If a woman was asking me for advice on to get into this field, I would ask them I don't even think it's woman-related, honestly, it's personality-related. How comfortable are you with being uncomfortable in speaking to strangers about a topic you might not be 100% sure of. Our industry, sales in general, you can't have paralysis analysis and sit around and wait for everything to be perfect. It's a very high intense quota. You have to be comfortable with change at any moment. I would just ask a little more so from a personality standpoint. It's this type of work lifestyle where you don't always have control of anything except for maybe your calendar. But I will also emphasize the plus side of you will have a little bit more flexibility, because most sales roles allow you to work hybrid or from home, remote, so you have more work-life flexibility. However, it is demanding.
