About Brittney
Brittney Richardson is a seasoned Human Resources executive and civic leader currently serving as Chief Human Resources Officer for FirstLine Schools in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this role, she leads HR strategy and operations supporting a K–12 school network, focusing on talent development, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and organizational culture. She also serves as Chair of the Civil Service Commission for the New Orleans, where she contributes to quasi-judicial oversight of employee appeals and public sector workforce matters. Her leadership approach emphasizes service, empathy, and building strong, people-centered workplaces.
Over the course of more than 15 years, Brittney has built a distinguished career across higher education, early learning, and organizational HR leadership. She previously held senior roles at Dillard University, including Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and Director of HR and Title IX Compliance, where she supported institutional strategy, workforce development, and equity initiatives. Her earlier experience includes leadership positions at institutions such as Manor College and MGF Early Learning Academy, as well as HR executive work in manufacturing, where she strengthened recruitment, compliance, employee relations, and benefits systems. She is also a recognized contributor within CUPA-HR, where she has served in regional and chapter leadership roles and received the organization’s Distinguished Service in Leadership Award.
Brittney is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Leadership through Northcentral University and holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Labor Relations from New York Institute of Technology, along with undergraduate studies in Political Science from Tuskegee University. Her professional philosophy centers on inclusion, integrity, mentorship, and continuous learning, guided by a commitment to community impact and educational equity. She is also active in professional and civic spaces, including involvement with CUPA-HR and membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, reflecting her long-standing dedication to leadership, service, and social progress.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to pouring into myself with affirmations and surrounding myself with people who give honest feedback. My family has been my strength as a safe space, especially with confidentiality in HR. I cherish having people to run ideas by and who support and lift me up even when I'm not at my best.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always lead with humility and curiosity. Be an active learner and listener to understand the landscape, navigate and strategize, identify promoters, and align with people who help accomplish missions and goals in a fulfilling way.
