Her Story

About Brittney

I've been working in my industry for over 10 years, and the journey has been very rewarding with lots of progress and setbacks along the way. I describe myself as a sales hunter - my day is centered around creating new opportunities from zero. I prospect into new accounts, diagnose their business pain points, and help customers think strategically about their growth and how they can improve their operational efficiencies. I work with multi-million dollar pipelines, and I've been successful because I have discipline in my outreach and I focus heavily on relationship management. I build relationships that turn into long-term partnerships that generate revenue for the organization. What I love most about my career is definitely building relationships with people. I've always been a people person, so I pride myself on building long-lasting relationships. I'm empathetic and very personable - I don't just go into a sale trying to win their business. I actually want to get to know my customers and clients, what they're looking to achieve, and then how we can work together in order for them to meet their goals. One of my most notable achievements was at my previous job at ISG, where I achieved 150% to quota, which means I had a quota to meet over 2.5 million and I was able to exceed that quota.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to just staying true to myself and being that people person. I love talking to people, I love finding out about people, so any realm of working with people, I feel like I can attribute my success to that, because I just enjoy solving problems and helping people grow down the line, building those relationships.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I have received working in sales is to always push forward. Sales can be a very challenging role where you want to get to the yes fast, you want to be able to make the money and grow the business, but ultimately staying to the process and making sure that you're meeting those customers' needs is definitely a way to be successful. It's also about seeing the bigger picture - I'm not just a quota seller wanting to make a lot of money, I am a relationship builder that builds off of relationships with people.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to women entering into my industry is just being flexible in sales. You get a lot of no's, you get people that may not be on the journey that you are on, but being able to be flexible, being able to work through criticism, and those no's that you may receive, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel if you stay persistent. And then also, really being able to be empathetic and understanding people's problems and issues will definitely help you be successful in this type of industry.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being in tech sales and the tech industry, there's a lot of changing where that comes from AI and just more self-developing, so a lot of job creation hasn't been very high. And then also there has been a lot of layoffs that kind of go in through the industry, so I would say the challenge is just more so being able to stay inside of a role that you're able to grow and not go through the AI and the different layoffs that's going on in the tech industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values I would say is making sure that I stay true to myself and the goals that I set, that I'm able to achieve them. So that is really making sure I'm getting the job done. If I say I'm going to do this, this is what's going to happen. So me staying true to my word and solving problems, not only in my professional but also in my personal life, I'm the person that gets things done. So if I can't get it done, no one can get it done. I value staying true to my word, and when I'm given an obstacle or a challenge, I'm able to always overcome and get it done.
