What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to fostering a respectful and dignified mediation process that empowers my clients to resolve conflicts collaboratively while staying in control of their own decisions. My client-centered approach, combined with over 25 years of experience as a lawyer, mediator, and conflict-resolution leader, has allowed me to help hundreds of families navigate challenging situations with dignity and reduced emotional and financial stress.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to build strong professional relationships, stay curious, and always approach challenges with integrity and a collaborative mindset.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this field to embrace conflict resolution with empathy, prioritize empowering their clients, and continually build their legal and mediation skills through ongoing learning and certification. Equally important is to cultivate strong relationships, maintain work–life balance, and intentionally foster peace and support within both professional and personal communities.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field are managing the emotional complexity of family and divorce disputes while minimizing the trauma that can come from adversarial legal systems. At the same time, there are growing opportunities to expand mediation services, including divorce coaching, elder and business mediation, and creating supportive frameworks that foster healing and collaboration.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both work and life are dignity, respect, compassion, and empowering others to make their own decisions. I am deeply passionate about helping people navigate difficult life transitions, especially divorce and family conflicts, in ways that preserve relationships, minimize trauma, and support healing and positive forward momentum.
