Her Story
About Brooke
I entered digital marketing about two and a half years ago because it's one of the most influential fields right now for small and medium-sized businesses. What I love about this work is that it lets me be creative while providing good services for good people, especially smaller businesses. Now in management, I lead a team of 10 people. My typical day starts early with fitness and listening to podcasts in the car, then I come into work and make sure to motivate my team in the morning with a sales kickoff, ensuring everyone knows their tasks for the day. Throughout the day, I do calls with my team and we practice to make sure their pitch sounds good and they know exactly what they're selling. My main areas of expertise are dealing with people - I love to talk, listen, and find solutions - and creative design. While we spend a lot of time behind the computer, we get to find so many different creative outlets to go hand-in-hand with it.

Ten minutes with Brooke
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't overthink your career too much. The right path will find you, and just make sure that you enjoy the work that you do. It feels less like a chore when you enjoy it.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It can be challenging, and make sure that you're working for the right people at the right time. Make sure you stay true to your values, and always know that there's always an opportunity to grow, so never feel unmotivated. If you're doing the right things, the right things will follow.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is that you have to learn a lot of different personalities, which is an amazing thing but also hard. Everyone is very different, so whether it's a business owner or a person on a team, you have to understand how to communicate with people very differently. That's probably the hardest challenge in the beginning, but it allows you to expand your knowledge base. The best thing about the career is definitely helping people. Along with getting to know people, you get to know what they're struggling with and find easy ways to find solutions for them, allowing them to make money for their business. That's the best part of it, helping out.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is definitely number one. What we do, we have to be transparent with clients. Also, the number one thing that you can do in a personal life is always be honest. And then accountability is number two. It's okay to make mistakes, everyone makes them, whether it's personal or work, but staying accountable, understanding a mistake, and making sure that it doesn't happen again are the biggest growths that you can have.
