Her Story

About Brooklyn

Brooklyn Montgomery, MBA is a life science professional, business development leader, and U.S. Marine Corps veteran whose career reflects a unique blend of military service, operational excellence, and a passion for advancing healthcare innovation. Currently serving as Director of Business Development at Deep Intelligent Pharma, she works at the intersection of clinical research, artificial intelligence, and patient-centered healthcare solutions. Her expertise spans clinical operations, patient recruitment, medical records management, strategic partnerships, and business development, with a strong focus on improving clinical trial efficiency and expanding patient access to innovative therapies.

After transitioning out of the United States Marine Corps, Brooklyn faced the challenge many military veterans and military spouses encounter: finding meaningful career opportunities that could accommodate the realities of military life and frequent relocations. Drawing on her background in helicopter data analytics, she pursued opportunities through the Hiring Our Heroes fellowship program and was selected for a clinical research fellowship with Vanguard Clinical. What began as a culture fit quickly evolved into a rewarding career in life sciences. Under the mentorship of senior leadership, she gained hands-on experience across clinical operations, medical records retrieval, patient recruitment, patient advocacy, and programs designed to connect patients with clinical trials. She also supported educational initiatives, including physician and patient engagement programs, which deepened her appreciation for the dedication, collaboration, and mission-driven nature of the clinical research industry. Through these experiences, she developed a profound respect for the professionals working behind the scenes to bring life-changing treatments to patients.

Today, Brooklyn is helping shape the future of clinical trials through AI-enabled solutions that accelerate drug development while preserving the human element that drives healthcare innovation. Initially cautious about the role artificial intelligence might play in clinical research, she came to recognize its potential as a tool for reducing timelines, lowering costs, and improving access to therapies for patients in need. At Deep Intelligent Pharma, she advocates for technologies that streamline clinical and regulatory processes, allowing sponsors to bring treatments to market more efficiently and cost-effectively. Her mission is rooted in improving patient outcomes by helping innovative companies navigate development challenges, reduce unnecessary expenses, and accelerate the delivery of promising therapies. Guided by a belief that technology should serve people, Brooklyn is committed to advancing solutions that make healthcare more accessible while supporting organizations dedicated to improving lives through scientific innovation.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Brooklyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

Community is everything to me. That includes your support system, and my husband has been absolutely incredible, very understanding and supportive. I travel 50% of the year, so every two weeks I'm gone. I just got back from London, and I go to Philadelphia and San Diego back-to-back in a few weeks. I had China right before London. You have to have the strong people around you. My parents set that up for me at an early age, my siblings, staying in touch with those people. But if I didn't have them, at least I would also have my husband and my friends that are very communicative. And then really just creating that community at work too, being able to be open with people without being afraid of HR or afraid of overlapping in a way where it doesn't benefit you. It's keeping your mental health process clean with community and the people around you. People say community, and if I say community to a life science group, they think maybe their site personnel. If I say community to a mom who's a stay-at-home mom, she thinks her doctors and her family. And if I say community to the military, they think it's their shop or their guys or girls to the left and right. It's such a huge difference for so many people, but it always means something.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If it was a motivational line, I would say you belong in every room you step foot in, because you put yourself there, no matter what anybody says. And if it's something to keep them pushing, I would just say try everything and never say never. You never know what kind of relationship or community or contact will move you forward. You also never know when you'll be that for someone as well, so just always keep your connections, no matter how much AI or computers take over or become something that you're using every day. It always comes down to the human aspect and the human touch. Just keep pushing, and I know that sounds very cliche, it's so much easier said than done, but try everything. You can't say no until you've tried it. When it comes to corporate or anything, you don't know if you love it until you hate it.
