Her Interview
Ten minutes with Bryonna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the example set by my mother and my brother. Growing up, I watched them work incredibly hard and persevere through challenges. My brother demonstrated that dedication and leadership can create opportunities, becoming a manager at every job he held despite not following a traditional educational path. My mother continually encouraged me to keep moving forward, even when things became difficult, and taught me the importance of hard work, resilience, and self-reliance. Their influence shaped my work ethic and inspired me to take ownership of my personal and professional growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I've received is that if you're truly disappointed about missing an opportunity, it's a sign that it was something you genuinely wanted. Those emotions reveal where your passion lies. If a missed opportunity doesn't affect you, it may simply not have been the right fit. That perspective has helped me better understand my goals and pursue opportunities that truly align with my purpose and aspirations.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to never let anyone convince them that they are incapable of succeeding. Continue moving forward, even when the path becomes challenging or uncertain. Stay connected to your passion and remember your purpose—your "why"—because it will keep you motivated during difficult times. It's also important to distinguish between emotion and business by presenting facts, remaining professional, and allowing your knowledge, confidence, and work ethic to speak for themselves.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in the construction industry is creating an environment where women feel increasingly confident, supported, and empowered to thrive in a traditionally male-dominated field. As the industry continues to evolve, there is an opportunity to reshape workplace culture, encourage greater inclusion, and embrace new ideas and perspectives. Another important challenge is bridging generational differences by helping individuals view construction not simply as a job, but as a rewarding long-term career while remaining open to innovation and positive change.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both professionally and personally are honesty, commitment, dependability, and accountability. I believe in following through on my commitments, taking responsibility for my actions, and owning my mistakes when they occur. Building trust through integrity and accountability is essential to developing strong relationships and earning the respect of colleagues, clients, and those around me.
