About Buffy
Buffy Jimenez serves as Manager at Robinson Rancheria Resort Casino in Nice, California. She has been with the organization since 2002, managing a department that operates 24-7 to maintain full coverage and avoid business disruptions. Buffy returned to the role in September 2023 after earlier service that included time on the Tribal Council from 2007 to 2010 and as Tribal Administrator from 2010 to 2013. She pursued studies in business administration with a minor in law after high school but did not complete a degree due to life circumstances. Buffy attributes her professional success to strong family values and dedication to working for the community, noting that over half the community is related in some way. She emphasizes being mindful and respectful of others, getting work done without a bullying approach, and striving to be part of the change to move the community forward. Her goals include establishing a sister program with the University of Phoenix to help tribal employees pursue degrees, and she plans to obtain an associate's degree herself once her taxes are in order. Buffy advises young women entering the industry to have fun with the work, as it is part of the entertainment sector and showing enjoyment encourages customers to return.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Buffy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to strong family values and working for the community. Over half the community is related somehow. I come from a generation where if you were doing wrong, family members and elders would correct you and you respected and listened to them without disrespect.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have fun with it as well. It's a job but we're part of the entertainment industry, so showing the customers that we can have fun doing it means they will want to come back.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One goal is starting a branch like a sister program with University of Phoenix so tribal employees can pursue degrees. I want to do that myself once my taxes are in order, at least get an associate's degree.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being mindful and respectful of others. Getting what I need to get done but not in a bully type of fashion. Striving to be part of the change to move us forward.
