Her Story
About C.
I'm a career and life coach with over 20 years of human resources experience. I provide career coaching services for clients who have been laid off or reorganized, helping them with their resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing tips and techniques. Most of my clients are career coaching clients. My background spans many aspects of human resources, but my favorite and last position before going full-fledged into coaching was as a talent acquisition consultant, or recruiter. In that role, I found myself preparing candidates for their interviews, encouraging them, and getting their confidence level up. I realized I was doing coaching before it really was a thing - before I even knew what it was, people would come to me for advice. I enjoyed the coaching part of talent acquisition more than dealing with the hiring managers, because preparing candidates for interviews and inspiring them was very rewarding. My most notable professional achievement was transitioning full-time into coaching - I was doing both talent acquisition and coaching for a while, and then I decided to take the plunge, the leap, into full-fledged coaching. I absolutely love what I do.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would first of all ask her why is it something that she wants to do, just to see if she really wants to do it, because the why is really important. And then the conversation would just kind of go from there. I also believe in the courage to begin again and starting from experience, not from scratch. We may not feel like we're totally ready yet, but we can do it scared. We don't have to have all of the answers, we don't have to know 100% of what's involved, just know enough to get started.
