About Caitlan

Caitlan Robbins, PharmD, is a licensed pharmacist based in the Pensacola, Florida area with professional experience in retail pharmacy and patient-centered care. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy, completing her undergraduate and pharmacy education through a fast-tracked seven-year program. She began her professional career as a Staff Pharmacist at Walgreens, where she managed prescription verification, supervised pharmacy technicians, administered vaccinations, maintained HIPAA compliance, and supported efficient pharmacy operations. Her performance was recognized when she became the #1 ranked Medication Therapy Management (MTM) pharmacist in her district.

Before entering pharmacy practice, Caitlan worked as an Office Manager at GulfView Counseling & Wellness, where she developed strong skills in client communication, scheduling, billing, records management, and administrative operations. Her experience in both healthcare administration and pharmacy has strengthened her ability to communicate effectively, remain organized in fast-paced environments, and maintain a strong focus on patient needs and safety. After navigating the challenges of obtaining her pharmacy licensure, Caitlan successfully became a licensed pharmacist in Florida, demonstrating persistence and commitment to her profession.

Caitlan is now focused on expanding her professional opportunities and pursuing additional specialization in nuclear pharmacy. She is also exploring work-from-home pharmacist opportunities as she considers the next stage of her career. She credits her success to the support of her family, particularly her mother, along with friends and former colleagues who encouraged her throughout her professional journey. Caitlan places a strong emphasis on loyalty, patience, coachability, and honesty, while recognizing staffing shortages and their potential impact on patient safety and pharmacy workflow as important challenges within the retail pharmacy industry.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Caitlan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the support and encouragement of the people around me. I’m incredibly grateful to my parents, especially my mom, for always believing in me, as well as my former pharmacy manager, Mo, who has been a great mentor and friend. My best friend, Nikki, has also been a constant source of support. Their guidance, encouragement, and belief in me have played a major role in my growth and success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to invest in myself and prioritize what’s best for me. My mom always reminded me that no employer can take away my skills or education, so I should never be afraid to bet on myself. My former pharmacy manager, Mo, also taught me the importance of finding a healthy work-life balance and not sacrificing my well-being out of loyalty to a company or job.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering pharmacy is to never let the industry intimidate you. Carry yourself with confidence and dignity, stand up for yourself, and don’t allow anyone to undermine your abilities. I also encourage young pharmacists not to feel limited by their first opportunities—if you gain experience and stay persistent, you can create opportunities that align much more closely with your goals and interests.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in retail pharmacy right now is staffing. Pharmacists and technicians are often stretched thin while managing high prescription volumes and multiple responsibilities, which can create significant stress and increase the risk of errors. As reimbursement and profitability for prescription dispensing have changed, many companies have reduced staffing budgets, making it even more difficult to maintain safe and efficient operations. Ultimately, the industry needs to find better ways to balance financial pressures, staffing levels, patient safety, and quality of care.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are loyalty, patience, teamwork, and honesty. I believe in showing up with loyalty and knowing that I did the right thing, even when circumstances don’t work out. In a demanding field like pharmacy, patience and being coachable are also essential—I value giving others grace, supporting my team, and being willing to learn. Above all, I believe in honesty and transparency, even when the truth may be difficult to hear, because being straightforward builds trust and respect.
