Her Story
About Caitlin
Caitlin Douglas is a stretch leader for an outbound sales team at Intuit, managing 15 account managers responsible for promoting QuickBooks, QuickBooks for accountants, and Intuit Enterprise Suite to small and middle-sized accounting firms. With 15 years in sales, she spent five years as an account executive and account manager in the accountant sales division before her recent promotion to stretch leader, an interim leadership role. Prior to her corporate career at Intuit, Douglas worked as a waitress and stay-at-home mom, entering the field after responding to a text message from a recruiter that led to her first role as a contractor. She holds a high school diploma and completed one and a half years of college without earning a degree, crediting the school of hard knocks and her personal journey for much of her growth. Douglas has been recognized as a top performer in her first and second years as a full-time employee and earned President's Club honors. She values integrity without compromise, honesty, hard work, and going above and beyond, and she attributes her success to a combination of grit and a higher power guiding her path while she does the work. Outside of work, she is actively involved in her recovery community and volunteers with MICA, a homeless organization in her town.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Caitlin
01What do you attribute your success to?
A combination of grit and a higher power putting me where I need to be, but doing the work to get there. I fell into this role by accident after being a stay-at-home mom and waitress, and it has been transformative.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be afraid to do something new that you've never done before, and ask lots of questions. Asking for help is one of the strongest assets to have in any role. It's okay not to know the answer.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up, even after getting a lot of no's and disappointments in interviews. Keep doing the work because there is light at the other end and you will get there eventually. The roles that said no weren't the right ones anyway.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity without compromise, honesty, hard work, and going above and beyond. Doing the next right thing is really important to me both professionally and personally.
