Her Story

About Camelia

I'm a Field Sales Leader for the Greater Northeast at Southwest Airlines, where I've been for almost 6 years. I lead a team of fully remote account managers, and my days vary between setting weekly goals and having one-on-ones with my team to ensure we're all marching to the same drum, and being in market with them - getting on flights to Boston or New Jersey to conduct sales meetings with corporate customers and trying to get folks to fly Southwest more. I travel a lot, and I love it so much. I love being able to travel to see my team as often as I do. I really, truly love it. My main area of expertise is sales, and before Southwest, I worked at Emirates where I was a finalist for the Chairman's Award for Sales Excellence on two different occasions. I earned my BS in Marketing from the University of Florida and also did a study abroad where I got a diploma in French. I'm always learning within my role - I completed Southwest's Internal Leadership Development certificate and I'm always looking to increase or add on other internal diplomas or certificates, like High Impact training that I'm looking forward to adding.

Ten minutes with Camelia

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To be authentic, to not try and be somebody who you are not - people will see through that. And always come to understand where the person's coming from. We can all have our own assumptions of what people are doing or why they did something, and it's better to ask or to let them tell you why they're doing it. Everybody has a reason, and we can't just assume the way we operate is the way they operate.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, quite honestly. I'm passionate about people being upfront with me, so authenticity - I'll give you as much as you give me. That's what I ask for.
