Her Interview
Ten minutes with Camille
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to many of the managers I've had, especially the women, who have lifted me up, said yes to opportunities, and allowed me to grow. While I put the work in, success also depends on great relationships with managers who provide room to grow and shine.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice was a challenge from my old manager, CEO of Farland Group Jane Hiscock, to step out of my comfort zone. When you step out of your comfort zone it allows you to learn and grow in ways you never would have. I took that challenge to heart and have lived it for the last 5+ years.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be as vocal as possible. Share your opinion and perspective because somebody is listening. Don't hold back even if it's a room full of men. Always speak up and give your opinion, but also, ask for what you deserve or need. There is no wrong answer and a lot of the best ideas come from everyone sharing their perspective. And the worst thing that can happen is someone will say no - and you pivot to understand how to turn that no into a yes.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The AI boom is an incredible tool but we haven't understood exactly how best to harness it, especially for marketing for journalism and content development.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work I value being happy learning something new every day not getting into a routine and having new challenges so no day is the same. In personal life with two young children work-life balance is most important. I value the time with my kids knowing I only have 17 18 summers with them and when I'm home I just want to be mom.
