Camille Henry is a seasoned Audit Supervisor at Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, with over 13 years of experience in public accounting and a career in banking and finance that began in 2008, right in the middle of the recession. She started at the very bottom as a bank teller in Little Rock, Arkansas, and steadily worked her way up, gaining experience in every aspect of banking, from deposit operations to executive support and marketing. After relocating to Florida, she expanded her expertise on the lending side as a mortgage loan officer before joining Saltmarsh in 2013. Today, Camille leads a team of auditors serving banking clients, supervising fieldwork, ensuring timely communication, and guiding audits to completion within one-week timeframes.

Beyond her technical skills, Camille is deeply committed to fostering a positive and empowering work culture. She mentors her team, encourages questions, and helps build confidence in an industry known for its high-stress environment and attrition rates. Camille also oversees the firm’s intern program, attending career fairs and serving as the first point of contact for new team members across the audit department. Her focus on people extends to clients as well, where she takes pride in building lasting relationships and helping others feel supported and valued.

Camille’s dedication to professional growth and community engagement is reflected in her ongoing education at the Florida School of Banking, Class of 2027, and in her recognition as a Swayze Scholar by the Mississippi Bankers Association and a 2024 Rising Star by InWeekly. Outside of work, she is actively involved in community initiatives through ReadyKids! and enjoys coaching her young son’s soccer team. Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the passion and love I have for this field and the opportunity to teach and inspire others. Over the past 18 years, I have built my career by starting at the ground level after graduating with a degree in Banking and Finance during the recession and steadily working my way up. Along the way, I pursued further education, earning a degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Business, which have strengthened my expertise and allowed me to contribute meaningfully to my teams and the industry.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I can make a difference if I work hard and stay the course. Embracing this guidance has driven me to push through challenges and continually grow, earning recognition such as the Swayze Scholar at the Mississippi School of Banking and being named a Rising Star in 2024.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the accounting and finance industry is that you can absolutely build a fulfilling career while thriving and achieving success. With dedication, continuous learning, and confidence in your abilities, it’s possible to excel and make a meaningful impact in this field.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is balancing leadership responsibilities with personal life. As a Supervisor, I strive to inspire and support my team while also raising my two children, ages 5 and 7. This balance allows me to lead by example, showing that it’s possible to succeed professionally while nurturing and prioritizing family.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me center around empowering others and being a positive, consistent presence in people's lives. In my work, I take pride in ensuring that the morale and culture of our team is positive, and that my team members feel confident and empowered to do their jobs. I want them to know there are no dumb questions and that I'm available to teach them concepts they don't understand. I get a lot of joy from helping people feel wanted, feel like they belong, and empowering them to be their best self. That's where I find the most fulfillment, beyond just the numbers it's in the relationships with clients and colleagues. Outside of work, these same values show up in my volunteer work with Ready Kids, where I serve as a reading pal and board treasurer. Being that consistent, reliable adult who shows up every week for a child, giving them undivided attention and helping them prepare for kindergarten, has been so rewarding. Some kids don't get that individualized attention at home, and I believe having a consistent person they can trust and open up to is very important. I also coach my children's soccer teams, and I love watching their confidence grow, seeing their excitement when they grasp a concept or score a goal, and just being that positive adult in their life. Whether it's giving a big hug to a child who needs it or finding new ways to teach within their attention span, I feel like I'm doing something right for these kids. My biggest quality is my desire and enjoyment to lead in a positive atmosphere and bring people together.
