About Camille

Camille Henry is pursuing a career in architecture from her base in Silver Spring, Maryland. With a deep passion for the field that dates back to her youth, she is currently completing her education, obtaining professional registration, and earning multiple degrees and certifications. Henry specializes in sustainability, focusing on designing high-functioning, energy-efficient buildings that aim for net-zero impact and can endure for generations. She acknowledges challenges such as the rise of data centers, which conflict with sustainability goals yet reflect the world's technological progress including AI. Henry advises aspiring architects to proceed one step at a time and only enter the profession if it truly captivates them, as it demands dedication like staying up through the night. Her personal values center on striving to be a good person each day, influenced by supportive family members including her grandfather who encouraged her architectural path and her professors who demonstrated diverse routes into the profession.

Ten minutes with Camille

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take it day by day, and don't overwhelm yourself. One assignment at a time, one class at a time. If you're not passionate about architecture, don't do it. If you don't care, and it doesn't grab you, and you don't want to stay up all night, and you don't find it enjoyable doing all the stuff, don't do it, because you're just torturing yourself.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Sustainability in the lifespan of buildings, aiming to be net zero, designing high-functioning energy-efficient buildings that are environmentally friendly and last generations. Data centers are a challenge as they go against sustainability but necessities exist with AI and world progressing.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Just try to be a good person one day after the next.
