About Camille

Camille Johnson serves as secretary of the board of directors for the nonprofit Connect Me, a role she has held since advancing from earlier positions within the organization that she joined in 2020. She began as a volunteer tutor after seeing a news report about the nonprofit during the COVID-19 pandemic while in high school, later becoming director of admissions where she created the admissions department and protocols, then serving as public relations chair on the board before assuming her current secretarial duties that include bookkeeping, leading votes, and signing documents. A student in electrical engineering technology at Purdue University after attending Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, Camille is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and has completed internships such as one at the utilities company NIPSCO in Indiana along with research on microelectronics through her school's SKILL program. She is a recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (gold) and the Tutor of the Month badge, and she actively mentors younger students in engineering, with a focus on underrepresented communities, drawing from her own experiences studying abroad in Mexico to learn Spanish and her passion for giving back.
