About Camille
Camille Velasquez is a creative strategist, graphic designer, and content creator with a passion for visual storytelling, brand identity, and digital engagement. Born and raised in Miami, she moved to Philadelphia to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design with a minor in Dance at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, graduating in 2023. Her background blends design and performance, shaping a dynamic creative approach that continues to inform her work across branding, content creation, and multimedia storytelling. She currently works full-time as the Manager of Content and Creative at Campus Philly, a nonprofit organization that supports students with career development resources, free museum access in the fall, student discounts, and citywide engagement opportunities. In her role, she leads social media strategy, manages social media interns, and upholds the organization’s brand identity through her graphic design expertise. Camille began her journey with Campus Philly in July 2023 as a social media intern, where her design skills were quickly recognized and incorporated into her role. She steadily advanced through the organization from intern to part-time contributor, then coordinator, specialist, and ultimately to her current managerial position. Throughout her academic and professional journey, Camille has remained deeply involved in creative and community-driven spaces, including helping to run an artist collective during college. She is especially proud to work within a predominantly women-led team, where she has been surrounded by strong female leadership and mentorship. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she continues to explore content creation that highlights Philadelphia’s culture, local businesses, and community stories, with a particular focus on uplifting Latino-owned spaces and fostering meaningful representation through her creative work.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Camille
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to my network and community, and most importantly all the friends that I've met along the way. I started doing a lot when I was in college, I helped run an artist collective and was always doing something - but I wouldn't be doing these things if people didn't believe in me and they wanted to involve me in certain projects. So I think that's what really drives me, community as a whole. I've also always been surrounded by women leaders throughout my career. Through my co-op, and then the job that I'm at now, I've actually always been surrounded by women leaders, which has been really nice. I've really only worked with women! My community and my network is what drives me to success ultimately.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would definitely say my advice is to be open, and to kind of try everything out, because you just never know what can be meant for you. I didn't initially do social media I was just always an art kid, I always did design, in a sense. But I never really did social media, and the reason I applied to this role was because I really liked being on social media, just in my pastime, and I was like, oh, okay, like, why not? We'll see what happens. And that has allowed me to meet new people within the industry, but also open up doors for other opportunities that are outside of my job for social media. So yeah, my top advice would just be open.
