Her Story

About Camille

My professional journey has been unique and relationship-driven. I began my career as a speech-language pathologist at Baylor Medical Center in downtown Dallas, where I worked for many years. I then transitioned to Texas State University, where I served as a lecturer and supervisor in their Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. That was truly my dream job - teaching college classes and helping clinicians become better at what they did. I was passionate even then about building relationships with my clients and their families. After my husband and I started our family and adopted 6 of our 9 children from around the world, I moved to a more part-time schedule, operating a private practice out of my home for years. As our business grew over the past 2 to 3 years, I started attending business meetings with my husband, and I had a realization - I thought business was about math, but I learned it's a lot about relationships. That's when I came on board full-time with Nine Arrow Land Service, where I now serve as Vice President. My husband and I have owned our own business for over 20 years, and we've been exclusively in land clearing for about 13 years. I'm so glad I had my background in healthcare because it led me into my personal calling of adoption, and through working on building relationships in healthcare, it really helped me in the business world. I learned that caring for people is what has helped me succeed in business.

Ten minutes with Camille

01What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely attribute our success to God. I would say 3 years ago, when we said a prayer about just wondering the direction of our company, the very next day, some doors opened, and conversations happened, and it's been very, very humbling. Every bit of provision, every bit of connection, every bit of relationship - we definitely give all the glory, because it's nothing that we have done, other than really try to commit to our biblical core values. If you go to our website at 9arrow.com, our values are on there, and all of them are biblical core values that we work hard to adhere to every day. I spent a long time really researching companies that really work hard to adhere to those, like Interstate Batteries and Chick-fil-A. Those are all companies that have really inspired us, and so we try really hard to stick to those core values.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My priorities are God first, then my husband, then my children, then my business. Every single day when I wake up in the morning, I try to really have my priorities in line individually and with our company, which is really the same because we base everything off of Christian values - that's just who we are. Having integrity is essential. As a mom, I go through my goals for the day as a wife, which is my first priority, and then as a mom. This morning I was thinking, okay, I'm going to get my husband coffee, and then I try to constantly think about are my kids ready for the day, and then work - have I done this with my clients. I'm constantly going through this Rolodex in my mind of checking on these boxes and trying to keep my priorities in order. When I let it get out of order is when things kind of fall apart. When I wake up and I'm immediately thinking about the business, I'm like, okay, I've got to go back and open up my Bible. We work hard to adhere to our biblical core values every day. If you have an issue with a client come up, I just go over those core values.
