Her Story
About Cammy
I'm currently a college student at Colorado State University, where I'm studying political science with a double minor in Legal Studies and Business Administration. I have aspirations of going to law school after I graduate in May 2028. My classes are mainly politically focused with a concentration in American law and politics, and most of the time they're Socratically focused with many debates on current political issues, group work coming up with potential solutions, and reaching out and working with local government to help make the change that our classes want to see. I hold multiple leadership positions on campus - I'm Vice President of Risk Management for my sorority Pi Beta Phi, where I oversee the accountability process for the chapter and help plan social events and interactions with other Greek life on campus. I've held this position since January. I'm also Vice President of Turning Point USA here on campus, a role I've held for about 8 months now. I grew up with parents who were both very big business people, super successful, and huge on public speaking, making a difference, and leading wherever they could. I have such a huge passion for public speaking - it's one of my favorite things to do. I noticed some issues within Colorado that I wanted to fix, and that's what got me into politics and what got me into Turning Point USA and making connections within my sorority. I see changes that I want to make, and I know that I am comfortable and willing to use my voice to make the changes, and I know that that's not something that everyone feels comfortable with.

Ten minutes with Cammy
01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The political environment is mainly older white men - that is just how it is. It is interesting getting into this environment, both as professors and professionals, as a young woman. Men do tend to have a bit of a leg up on us at the moment. But it's definitely something that can be overcome, just embracing the features that I have that I know others can't offer. I'm noticing other women within my major doing the same thing.
