What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to betting on myself regardless of what others think. One thing people have always said, and it's been my downfall sometimes, is that I will bet on myself regardless. Sometimes you're the only one that's gonna believe in you. You will have people all day long tell you that yeah, you should try this, you should do this, and they will support sometimes from afar. But if you believe in yourself and what you know you're capable of doing, and you truly believe in what it is that you want to do, failing isn't always failing. You might not see the reward up front, but the back end, the reward on the back end is ultimately when you know you're there and you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. I'm a true Sagittarius free spirit who believes you should do every dream that you want to do. I don't care what anyone thinks. You'll never be able to tell me that I didn't do everything I wanted to do, and that's what I pride myself on. I tell my clients that too - if it's something that you want to do, you should be able to do it. At the end of the day, I'm the only one that has to answer to me and what I've done in life. I think 45 right now, we are rocking it. We are the 20-year-olds of the era and the century, because we are unapologetic, and we do not care. I truly do not care what others think. I do not care at all.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell you to bet on yourself regardless. Sometimes you're the only one that's gonna believe in you. You will have people all day long, even when it comes to booking you and everything else, tell you that yeah, you should try this, you should do this, and they will support sometimes from afar. But one thing is, if you believe in yourself and what you know you're capable of doing, and you truly believe in what it is that you want to do, failing isn't always failing.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me is self-empowerment and independence. I want women to feel empowered and good about themselves first, not have a dependency on others to define our worth. Yeah, we need men, we need our partners, him, her, whoever, but at the end of the day, can you say that you've ultimately crashed out and did everything that you wanted to do? Because at the end of the day, I'm the only one that has to answer to me and what I've done in life. I truly do not care what others think. I do not care at all. My mom was like, girl, can I bleed? No, I do not care. I think 45 right now, we are rocking it. We are the 20-year-olds of the era and the century, because we are unapologetic, and we do not care. I want people to know that you don't have to worry about what other people think about you. I'm not always right, and sometimes I gotta stop and do my own work, but I want people to know it's about, in your era, how you are supposed to feel. I set my own goals. I'm really big on making a difference where I am, because that's what ultimately shows you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. It doesn't have to be about recognition or awards. I just need people that need the business to work, and people to be happy, and people to consistently be there.
