About Candace
Candace Okafor is a surgical technologist who has worked at Central Tech for 22 years. She began her educational path intending to become a lawyer but found that it was not the right fit. Recognizing her aptitude for working with her hands, she was inspired by a friend to pursue surgical technology, a role she has loved and remained in ever since. Okafor emphasizes the importance of kindness in both her personal and professional life, striving to ensure that others feel valued and supported. Her experiences meeting people from varied backgrounds, dialects, and cultures have also fueled a passion for writing, leading her to envision a successful writing career over the next five years.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In general, to me, this transcends from my personal life all the way to my career. It's how I treat people. ... my goal, when I leave this world, is that so many people will show up and say, she was kind to me, or she is helpless. And that's how I want to be remembered.
