Her Story

About Candice

I've been working as a brand ambassador for 11 years - it'll be 11 years next month actually. I've been an author for a couple years now, and I've also been a teacher, singer, songwriter, and game designer. I'm a business owner too, and I received a Stellar Award for my business a couple years ago. In my teaching work, my key responsibilities include getting people's feedback, teaching the subjects, seeing if the kids or anybody grasps the idea, and figuring out what I need to do to curtail my teaching approach. I love teaching and learning about different things. I grew up in Girl Scouts and 4-H, so we got badges for different things, and I learned to be a Jill of all trades. That's kind of what inspired me to get into this field - I just grew up with it.

Ten minutes with Candice

01What do you attribute your success to?

I just grew up with it. That's kind of what I attribute it to - I grew up with it. I was in Girl Scouts and 4-H growing up, so we got badges for different things, and I learned to be a Jill of all trades. My mom and my dad have been my mentors - my mom helped me with Girl Scouts to get into that stuff, and my dad helped me get into 4-H. That background of learning different things and being exposed to so many different areas really shaped who I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Just to kind of slow down and absorb the moment.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I don't really have any challenges. For career opportunities, I'm always looking for one. I've been at brand ambassador work for 11 years, and the contracts end or they put on pause, so I'm always kind of looking for the next product to demonstrate. And then with teaching, I guess that's a challenge - it's like when people sign up for classes or they don't, you don't know if they're gonna sign up or not.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

What is most important to me is my motivation to be helpful and kind to others.
