What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my husband supporting me through everything, and trying to always have a growth mindset. I focus on learning how I can do better today to help tomorrow and my future in years to come. I really care about how I can help people learn about vision, learn about how to help them get the best of their vision, and help practices understand how to help their patients and their business needs. My success comes from being open-minded and listening to coworkers through the years and having the support of my family and friends through the years. A lot of my family and friends go where I have worked because they want to support me, and they learn from talking to me about vision and the importance of it. I love seeing that kind of impact on people.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always be curious is probably the best advice I've ever received.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say invest in yourself. Really look at what kind of trainings are gonna help you move forward. Talk to people in whatever industry it is that you're passionate about, and make sure you're doing something that brings you joy and that inspires you. If it weren't for my husband, I would have never learned how much passion I actually have for vision, and how important it is, and to be out there and make sure that people understand why it's important, and how to take care of their vision, and support practices to help get that awareness out there.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say my biggest challenge is getting people to be open to talking about change and other options, or hearing about products that they are unfamiliar with. Sometimes people get comfortable in one thing, and they just stick to what they know. The challenge is spiking their curiosity and showing them what could help them with something a little different.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being genuine and honest are what really drive me. Always being the person that people can rely on and trust. Those values help build my relationships. Really, integrity is probably the one word that brings it all together.
