Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would say my parents. They were such huge role models, and especially my dad. I think a daughter-father figure, he instilled so much in me, and you know, even back to when he always wanted me to be in construction. It's really all thanks to them. My father pushed me and believed in me even when I was stubborn and wanted to pursue my own path. He always owned his own company, and ever since high school, I was working for him, managing his books, operations, and teams. That foundation he gave me shaped everything I've accomplished.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice she received was from her father: never limit yourself and never assume a field is not for you. He encouraged her to step into construction and engineering even when she initially wanted to avoid it, and that guidance helped shape the successful career she has today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be if you set your mind to it, you can do anything a man can do. I absolutely love to work with women and bring women up in any field of interest, because I think in every aspect of our lives, we're always kind of in a man's world, and especially in construction. I help young women build their confidence and come into the working world, and I help introduce them to certain people that can help achieve their dreams and help them look for connections. It's never too late to pursue your goals. Some friends I have come back from having children and have taken 5 or 10 years off, or are changing their career path 3 or 4 times. I just hit 40 this year, and I've been inspired by so many incredible women in their 50s, and I'm like, okay, what can I do in the next 10 years? It's never too late.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is helping more women break into and thrive in traditionally male-dominated industries like construction and oil and gas. At the same time, this creates one of the greatest opportunities—building stronger leadership pipelines for women and creating mentorship systems that support long-term growth. Candice sees the future in expanding diversity, strengthening business relationships, and helping more women rise into executive leadership roles.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say just giving as much as I can, giving my time, and empowering women. I just love supporting others, and I think we're so granted the life that we live, from having our eyesight, or hearing, or just the ability to work. I'm so thankful every day that I get to live another day, and I think a part of me is, what can I do to help someone else? I love supporting people in whatever their mission is, or achievements, or goals. I do mentorships for young women who are graduating in STEM, and I help them build their confidence and come into the working world, and help introduce them to certain people that can help achieve their dreams or help look for connections.
