About Candice

Candice M. Yoder is an experienced operations and management professional with a background spanning financial services, managed care operations, healthcare administration, and medical imaging. She currently serves as an Operations Manager at Veridian Credit Union, where she manages teams, oversees project development and implementation, supports strategic planning, addresses human resources matters, and leads process-improvement initiatives. Her responsibilities also include budget management, vendor management, data analytics, RFP development, compliance-related activities, and monitoring areas such as fraud, waste, and abuse. Her earlier career in healthcare included nearly 16 years with UnityPoint Health, where she managed multi-million-dollar family medicine clinics and worked as a radiographer, mammographer, and sonographer.

Yoder has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional growth and education. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from Purdue University after previously completing an Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology/Science – Radiographer from Iowa Central Community College. Completing her bachelor's degree required significant dedication while balancing her education with a demanding full-time management career and a large family. Her diverse experience across healthcare and financial services has given her a broad understanding of operations, employee leadership, insurance and claims processes, strategic planning, and organizational improvement.

Yoder attributes her professional success to motivation, dedication, determination, and consistently following through on her commitments. She believes in maintaining a mindset that challenges are achievable rather than assuming something is impossible. As a leader, she values open and honest relationships with her employees and works to create a supportive environment where people can succeed. She encourages the next generation, particularly women entering her field, to remain committed to lifelong learning, pursue continuing education, attend leadership conferences, and continually seek opportunities for professional development. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she values family and strives to serve as a positive role model while contributing to her community through service as a board member of Don Bosco High School.

Ten minutes with Candice

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my motivation, dedication, and ability to follow through on my commitments. When I commit myself to something, I see it through. That consistency, determination, and willingness to stay focused have played an important role in helping me progress throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My guiding philosophy is to never give up and never assume that something is impossible. I believe that with the right mindset, dedication, and willingness to put in the necessary work, I can accomplish what I set my mind to.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage women entering the industry to never stop learning. Continuing your education, attending leadership conferences, and actively seeking opportunities for professional development can make a significant difference in your career. I believe that if you are not continuing to grow and learn, you are not moving forward.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the primary challenges in my field is navigating the constantly changing requirements of state agencies and managed care organizations. Rules, bylaws, procedures, and expectations can change frequently, requiring organizations to remain flexible, responsive, and compliant.

At the same time, these changes create opportunities for continuous improvement. My team and I must develop new processes, provide appropriate training, and adapt quickly while continuing to ensure that members' needs are met every day.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family comes first in my personal life. I prioritize making sure my family is cared for and their needs are met, while also striving to be a positive role model for them.

Professionally, I place a high value on open and honest relationships with my employees. It is important to me to create a supportive and respectful environment where my team feels confident in the work they do and knows that they are valued.
