Her Interview
Ten minutes with Capella
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never giving up. I always had to work very hard and nothing came naturally, but persistence through challenges like bartending while pursuing education led me to film production and now coaching.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is to pay attention to how you look and present yourself because non-verbals are real and people are constantly reading them. Your smile, posture, and how polished you are makes a difference in how approachable and powerful you appear.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be very intentional of how you treat everyone, not just the people you think can do something for you. Create and nurture connections with everybody. Just don't give up. Rejection is God's protection or the universe's protection.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity in all fields right now is AI. Every generation has its challenge. We have got to learn how to work with it because it ain't going anywhere. It's a story you tell yourself - if you tell yourself you are doomed because of AI or that you are number one with a bullet with AI, science says whatever story you're telling yourself that's reality to your brain.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
How I treat people is most important. If I'm in a nail salon and the technicians don't treat everyone well or are dismissive, I don't go back. We have to treat each other with care here on the ground level. Positivity resonance from simple hellos can change someone's day and create a chain of goodness.
