Her Story
About Caprice
Caprice Woods is the founder of Fluffy Gals Clothing Swap and Hunky Fellows Clothing Swap, organizations dedicated to plus-size clothing exchanges in Detroit, Michigan. With nine years in the fashion and retail industry, she draws from her college experiences attending clothing swaps where she struggled to find clothes in her size, leading her to create inclusive opportunities for plus-size women. Woods expertise spans fashion, art, and music, evident in her organization of events such as the Boutique and Blue Experience, which showcases plus-size artists, musicians, and spoken word performers. She holds nine certifications, including work as a gardener at Earthworks, a business entrepreneurship certification through ProsperUst, involvement with the Concert of Colors and Cultural Exchange Network, and membership in the inaugural class of Public Allies as well as AmeriCorps. Woods attributes her success to her faith and the support of her community, whose donations enable her pop-up venues, and she values honesty, integrity, loyalty, and transparency in her work. She has received the YMCA Character Award and donates to Pope Francis and Sarah Castleton's Kitchen. Her advice to others includes trusting one's gut, valuing ideas, and embracing the moment, while she aims to build a full-time staff within the next five years.
