Her Story

About Cara

Cara Jacobsen is the Owner and Bookkeeper of Fierce Finance LLC, bringing over 15 years of hands-on experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and financial operations. She is QuickBooks Pro Certified and has developed a strong foundation through both formal accounting education and extensive real-world application. Through Fierce Finance LLC, she provides small business owners with accurate, organized, and dependable financial reporting designed to improve clarity and control over their finances.

Throughout her career, Cara has worked across multiple industries including construction, tree service, and automotive repair. As a former business owner, she personally managed all bookkeeping responsibilities, gaining deep practical experience with complex financial systems and day-to-day operational accounting. She currently supports clients with transaction management, account reconciliation, billing, and cleanup of disorganized or overdue books. She also provides seasonal tax and bookkeeping services through Intuit, working on both routine maintenance and advanced catch-up projects, including multi-year S-Corporation filings.

Her path into bookkeeping began out of necessity while running her own business, where she independently learned to manage all financial records. After stepping away from the workforce for nine years to raise her family, she returned to the field with renewed focus and has since built Fierce Finance LLC from the ground up as a single mother. Today, she combines self-taught expertise, professional certification, and real-world business experience to deliver accurate, detail-oriented financial services that help clients gain confidence and control over their numbers.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to my children, who are my greatest motivation and the reason I strive to lead by example every day. As a single mother, I am driven by the responsibility of showing them that success is built through persistence, resilience, and the willingness to keep moving forward even after setbacks. I believe in demonstrating that failure is simply part of the process and that quitting is never an option. My commitment to hard work and consistency is rooted in my desire to provide for my family and model what determination looks like in real life. Seeing my youngest son already developing his own entrepreneurial mindset reinforces that example, and it inspires me to continue growing both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is simple: just go for it. Taking action, even when things feel uncertain or imperfect, has taught me that growth comes from experience, not hesitation. That mindset has encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone, learn through doing, and trust my ability to figure things out along the way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay persistent and never give up, even when it feels challenging or competitive. There will always be obstacles, but consistency and resilience are what set you apart over time. Trust that your skills and approach will resonate with the right clients, because there is always someone who needs your services and values what you bring to the table. Stay confident in your abilities, keep improving your craft, and remember that success comes from showing up and continuing to push forward.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is finding consistent clients and effectively marketing my services. Building visibility and reaching the right audience can be difficult, especially when balancing the demands of running and growing a business at the same time.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are centered on family, integrity, and consistency. Family always comes first, and they are my biggest motivation in everything I do. I believe in being kind, loyal, and showing up every day with my best effort, even when things are challenging. I also remind myself that every day is a new opportunity to grow, improve, and keep moving forward with purpose and gratitude.
