Her Story

About Carla

Carla Franklin, MBA, is an Accounting Supervisor at Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., where she has built a 23-year career, with particular depth in accounts payable, spanning roles from AP Accountant to her current leadership position overseeing corporate accounts payable functions. Known for her attention to detail and steady leadership style, she trains and directs team members while managing the accuracy and integrity that a global business demands. Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Finance from Walden University, which she completed cum laude, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, earned in 2023. She further pursued a Doctor of Ministry Science in Christian Education, reflecting a lifelong dedication to both professional development and spiritual growth.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Franklin has cultivated a multifaceted career as an author, podcast host, and mentor. She published her first book, His Glory Revealed After This, and is preparing to release a new devotional titled Me Moments, born out of a social media platform she created to share personal reflection and exchange with others. She also hosts the Let's Talk Dreams podcast, now about a year old, which encourages listeners to pursue their ambitions and respond effectively to opportunities using their own abilities. Teaching remains a defining passion for her, one she pursues both in professional settings and through her spiritual training, having studied at a school of Christian ministry.

Franklin's commitment to service is reflected in her long history of volunteer leadership. She served for fifteen years as General Secretary of New Destiny Fellowship International and continues to serve as Executive Administrator there, managing senior leadership schedules, board meetings, and congregational records. She remains especially devoted to causes that empower women, supporting initiatives such as Woman Evolve. Guided by the values of honesty, integrity, fairness, and consistency, Franklin credits her success to perseverance, continuous learning, and an unwavering belief that greatness lies within everyone willing to overcome obstacles and refuse to quit.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Carla

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and a constant commitment to learning. I keep moving forward and trust that there is more in me than I've yet tapped into, so quitting has never been an option, though I do allow myself to rest. I've watched successful people, both professionally and in life, get knocked down and rise again, and that has taught me to embrace obstacles as part of the process. I'm passionate about not sabotaging my own future, about minimizing negative voices, and about pursuing the greatness that's already within me. I've come to believe that our dreams, even the ones that come to us in our night seasons, are what shape the vision we carry into each day.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Early on, while I was already working in accounting and pursuing my degree, an HR mentor advised me to study business rather than accounting specifically, so I could remain marketable across multiple industries rather than limiting myself to one. I also carry with me the advice of a mentor who taught me that believing in yourself produces the same remarkable results as believing in others. That lesson reshaped how I see my own potential, it isn't only about investing belief in the people around me, but extending that same confidence to myself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to be the best at what they know they bring to the table. Never let anyone minimize your voice or your influence, and remember that whenever you feel undervalued or unappreciated, you always have options.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In accounts payable, one of our biggest challenges is gathering accurate information and maintaining attention to detail, especially since we operate as a global business where inaccurate data can create real problems. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential to doing this work well. At the same time, there is always room for growth in this field, there are consistent opportunities to learn, expand your skill set, and advance.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, fairness, and consistency are the values I hold most important, both in my professional work and in my personal life.
