About Carla
Carla Adams serves as an Extension Agent in cooperative extension, a role she has held for three years after nearly 20 years in academia overall. Based in Tallahassee, Florida, her work centers on heirs' property, renter education, housing education, financial stability, land management, and housing security, including legal processes such as titles, wills, trusts, and succession planning. She supports farmers with USDA resources as a master gardener and collaborates on projects like the Descendants of New Hope Cemetery. Adams earned her undergraduate degree from Florida Memorial University, a master's degree in criminal justice and another in curriculum and teaching or guidance and counseling from Florida A&M University, and an educational specialist degree in general education from North Central University, now National University. Her affiliations include serving as president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and memberships in the National Association of Cooperative Extension Professionals, Florida Association of Extension Professionals, and Association of Extension Administrators, along with university faculty planning committee roles. She has received the 2026 Extension Housing Outreach Team Award from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, an additional national award, and the RSO Advisor of the Year. Adams also volunteers with the American Red Cross, St. Jude, and sickle cell anemia initiatives.
