Ten minutes with Carla
01What do you attribute your success to?
I'm going to say it's a combination of things - hard work, resilience, and continuous learning. But I also have to credit the leaders that have invested in me along the way. I've been so fortunate to have so many people around me - leaders, peers, mentors, and even my own teams - that they've always challenged me and supported me along the way, no matter what. I think success is a team effort, it's rarely achieved alone. Being open to feedback and embracing opportunities that truly push me out of my comfort zone has been crucial. I think that when you sit too long somewhere and you're too comfortable, you forget. I have also never lost sight of the impact that I have on people, and I'm a servant leader - I like to serve others, I like to develop them. When you do all those right things and you have a good heart and a good intention, success always tends to follow.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never settle. The other one was, because I've been challenged a lot in between being myself and who people want me to be, so be myself, because everybody else is taken. I always thought that I had to lead like somebody else to be successful, or mock somebody else, but over time, I learned that my strength is my authenticity. I don't have to be perfect, I just have to be genuine.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Love to read. Right now, I'm reading a room that says… a book that says how to read the room by Dr. Mike Beschel. I love going to the beach. enjoy doing community service activities, like feeding in South FloridaAnd hiking. I do a lot of hiking.about 2 years ago, I went to Arizona and went into the Havasu tribe
