This foundation prepared her to take on the challenge and opportunity of owning and operating her own PetSmart Veterinary Services hospital, where she brings both clinical expertise and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
Born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Dr. Olivo embraces her heritage in every aspect of her life and work. Married for eight years with an eight-year-old daughter, she shares her home with four dogs and two leopard geckos. Her backyard, filled with lush plants, is her sanctuary, where she finds peace and inspiration. She loves the beach, enjoys art and music, and carries her values of empathy, integrity, and dedication into every aspect of her personal and professional life.

Together, these elements have shaped my journey and continue to propel me toward new goals.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to do what truly makes you happy and to follow the dream that inspires you most. When your work aligns with your passion, it transforms challenges into opportunities and fuels long-term fulfillment. Pursuing what excites you not only brings personal satisfaction but also drives excellence, resilience, and creativity, allowing you to make a meaningful impact in your career and in the lives of others.

My advice to young women entering my industry is to fully embrace who you are and to trust in your capabilities. Confidence in your skills, combined with authenticity, will set you apart and help you navigate challenges with resilience. What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is ensuring access to high-quality care and services for low-income families. Limited resources, systemic barriers, and affordability issues can make it difficult to meet the needs of underserved communities. However, this challenge also presents a significant opportunity: to innovate and develop solutions that bridge gaps in access and equity. By leveraging community partnerships, advancing affordable care models, and advocating for systemic change, we can create meaningful impact and improve outcomes for families who need it most.
