Her Story
About Carla
Carla Snyder serves as service manager in the roofing industry, where she has worked for five years. She began her career in the United States as a receptionist for three months, advanced to administrator for three years, and was promoted to service manager one and a half years ago. A typical day starts at 6:30 a.m. at the shop, where she dispatches technicians after discussing the scope of work, prepares and sends invoices for prior jobs, sells additional services to customers, schedules the next day's work, and contacts customers. She occasionally visits job sites once or twice a week to assess roofs or oversee work. Originally from Peru, Carla earned a six-year law degree followed by a three-year master's degree in law and finance, which aids her in billing and finance duties. She faced challenges entering a male-dominated field as the first female service manager at her company of 30 years, overcoming language barriers and technical roofing terminology through study and guidance from Latino roofers. She values loyalty to the company that recognized her efforts and aspires to remain there or potentially open her own business.
