Her Story
About Carlene
Carlene Francis is a trauma coach, speaker, and mentor dedicated to helping individuals heal from childhood trauma. After overcoming an abusive upbringing and multiple suicide attempts through a transformative encounter with the Lord, she returned to education, earning her GED, bachelor's degree, and a master's in social work and ministry. This journey led her to write and self-publish three books in the Wounded Bird series along with the devotional When Broken Wings Are Restored, all focused on trauma awareness and the healing process. She is actively involved with the Seventh-day Adventist church, particularly the women's ministry, where she supports women in identifying and addressing trauma. Francis attributes her drive to her personal experience of moving from brokenness to encouraging others to heal and grow.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Carlene
01What do you attribute your success to?
I wouldn't say I'm successful yet, I'm still in the getting ready stage. My why is seeing that I was literally doomed, living a life in the shadows, broken, and now I am here encouraging other people to heal, talking to women, listening to them, and being able to provide advice so they can learn and grow.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
We all have worth. You do not have to allow what other people say about you to dictate your journey. Approval is not desired nor required.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges getting myself more out there, getting more speaking engagements. I would like to get into the education aspect, going into the schools talking to young girls about trauma, abuse, and their identity. Trying to see if there are other certifications needed.
