Her Story

About Carly

Carly DiDomenico serves as Marketing Manager for JCD Builders, the family-owned construction firm founded by her father nearly 40 years ago in the Bay Area, California. She joined the business four years ago after transitioning from a career in hair and makeup, bringing transferable skills in color theory, client relations, and visual storytelling to her role. In addition to overseeing social media, marketing campaigns, photo shoots, SEO tracking, and event coordination, Carly DiDomenico manages OSHA services, certifications, and safety meetings, spending about two days per week on job sites. She holds a partial education from Cal State Northridge, and has supplemented her background through LinkedIn trainings and architectural courses. Carly DiDomenico remains actively involved in her sorority and is collaborating with a mental health organization to promote suicide awareness within the construction industry. She attributes her professional success to representing her father and ensuring satisfaction for employees, tradespeople, and new homeowners, while advising young women entering the male-dominated field to embrace discomfort and advocate for themselves.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Carly

01What do you attribute your success to?

Making my dad proud is what drives me. I love seeing our employees and trade partners happy, and nothing compares to the moment we hand the keys to new homeowners. After nearly 40 years of building this business, being able to represent my father in the best possible light and seeing how fulfilled he is means everything to me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never let a space dominated by men hold you back. Even if you are the only woman walking into that room, own it, because other women are watching and looking up to you. Growth requires getting uncomfortable before you can truly feel at ease. When something unsettles you, sit with it, ask yourself why, and put in the work until that discomfort becomes confidence.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Some of the biggest challenges are outside our control: material delays, suppliers closing their doors, and navigating city departments for approvals and permits. Everyone wants their project finished overnight, but just like Rome, quality work takes time. We treat every client's home as if it were our own safe space. That also means learning to work with many different personalities and requests while staying grounded in what we believe is right.
