What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a deep commitment to excellence, resilience, and purpose in everything I do. With over 15 years of experience as a Business Execution Consultant across financial services, corporate security, and organizational development, I’ve learned that true success stems from combining strategic insight with genuine connection. My approach is rooted in collaboration, continuous learning, and a drive to deliver meaningful, lasting impact for the people and organizations I serve. Beyond my professional journey, a personal story continues to shape who I am today. During the pandemic, I began baking after my stepfather—who found comfort in chocolate cake while he was ill—passed away. What started as a way to honor him became a healing ritual and a reconnection to my family roots. Each time I bake, I feel the presence of my Meemaw, my aunts, and the laughter that once filled our kitchen. That experience reminds me daily that love, dedication, and passion are the true ingredients of success—whether in business or in life.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are integrity, perseverance, creativity, and compassion. As the owner of Fat Patty Cakes, I pour love and authenticity into everything I bake—each cake is made with care, intention, and a sense of connection to others. I believe in showing up fully, doing things the right way, and treating every customer and collaborator with respect and kindness. Being a mother to a phenomenal, talented daughter has also shaped my values deeply. She inspires me every day to keep growing, learning, and leading by example. I’m passionate about helping first-generation college graduates find their path, because I know the power of opportunity and hard work. I also carry with me the lessons from my father, a skilled brick mason who worked on million-dollar homes. From him, I learned the value of craftsmanship, dedication, and pride in one’s work—no matter the setting. Having experienced both moments of struggle and success, I’ve come to appreciate balance, gratitude, and the beauty in building something meaningful from the ground up—whether that’s a business, a family, or a dream.
