Carmen Sims

Carmen Sims is a preschool owner and early childhood educator with 30 years of experience in child care. She began her career path after completing community service at a rec center in Berkeley, California, where she developed a passion for supporting children in low-income environments. Sims graduated from San Francisco State University in 1996 with double majors in developmental psychology and African American studies. She owns and operates Linfanzia Daycare in Oakland, California, focusing on early childhood education and development. Sims has worked across all age stages in the field, including with teen mothers at Florence Crittenton, and she started her own preschool after leaving nonprofit roles to better support her family.
