About Carmita
Carmita Rivera serves as Resource and Marketing Coordinator for Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and one of the top three such organizations in Georgia. In this role for the past 4 years, she manages community engagement efforts, providing environmental education through lunch and learns, community events, and guidance on sustainability and living green in Gwinnett. She coordinates with volunteers to support these initiatives and draws on her 32 years of customer service experience to build strong networks and encourage participation. Rivera holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a certified financial advisor, and has pursued theology studies. Prior to her current position, she spent 20 years with the nonprofit Emerging in Puerto Rico, empowering women through faith-based support and guidance for those rebuilding their lives after difficult relationships.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell her, do something that's passionate to yourself. Look for the right people to join your journey. And if those aren't the right people, don't worry. If they fall along on the path, more people will join your journey. Truth be told, it's all about the passion and the time you put into it, and believing in what you're doing.
